LEGO 700-2-1 Gift Package was a Mursten set released in 1956, during the early years of LEGO’s expansion beyond Denmark. Sold as part of the LEGO Mursten line (literally “LEGO Bricks”), it came in a decorative gift-style box containing an assortment of basic bricks along with windows and doors, all molded in cellulose acetate plastic. In the original 1956 Danish LEGO catalog, the set was listed at 25,00 kr. (Danish Kroner), marking it as a higher-end product compared to smaller brick boxes of the same era. About Mursten Basic Set

LEGO Mursten, produced between 1949 and 1953, were the first plastic building blocks by the LEGO Group. These early sets, known as LEGO Basic Sets, included simple, hollow rectangular bricks without the modern stud-and-tube locking mechanism. Sold primarily in Denmark and a few European countries, these sets laid the groundwork for the modern LEGO system. In 1953, the Mursten evolved into "Automatic Binding Bricks," featuring an improved design that eventually led to the patented stud-and-tube system in 1958, which greatly enhanced the stability and versatility of LEGO constructions.

Basic Set consists of 6 sets that ran from 1954 to 1956. As of today, 700-12 Automatic Binding Bricks is the most valuable Basic Set set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $6,230.
