LEGO 700-4-3 Gift Package was part of the LEGO Mursten line released in the 1956. Like other gift packages of the era, it was presented in a decorative box and contained a larger assortment of basic bricks (red, white, blue, yellow and gray) along with specialty pieces such as windows and doors, all molded in cellulose acetate plastic. Positioned above smaller sets like 700/2 in LEGO’s catalog numbering system, the 700/4 boxes offered a more substantial building experience, with parts needed to create more complex houses and structures. In the original LEGO catalog, the set was listed at kr. (Danish Kroner) 10,50.

About Mursten Basic Set

LEGO Mursten, produced between 1949 and 1953, were the first plastic building blocks by the LEGO Group. These early sets, known as LEGO Basic Sets, included simple, hollow rectangular bricks without the modern stud-and-tube locking mechanism. Sold primarily in Denmark and a few European countries, these sets laid the groundwork for the modern LEGO system. In 1953, the Mursten evolved into "Automatic Binding Bricks," featuring an improved design that eventually led to the patented stud-and-tube system in 1958, which greatly enhanced the stability and versatility of LEGO constructions.

Basic Set consists of 6 sets that ran from 1954 to 1956. As of today, 700-12 Automatic Binding Bricks is the most valuable Basic Set set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $6,230.
