“Creating smaller versions of previous models is probably among the greatest challenges that a LEGO designer can encounter, especially when the previous set is extremely impressive. On that basis, I am satisfied with 70665 The Samurai Mech. 9448 Samurai Mech remains more... More appealing but that seems inevitable as the new mech only contains 154 pieces but captures the important design features of its predecessor in my opinion.”

“This is the first Legacy set to feature the Skulkin as the villains. The second is 70670 Monastery of Spinjitzu, the third is 71730 Epic Battle Set - Kai vs. Skulkin and the fourth is 71753 Fire Dragon Attack. The Samurai X minifigure here is near identical to her appearance... More in 71705 Destiny's Bounty; however, the minifigure included here has full body samurai armor and Nya's Phoenix logo on her chest plate instead of the newer "Samurai X" logo.”

About Ninjago Legacy

The Ninjago Legacy subtheme of Ninjago is dedicated to re-imagining concepts used in classic sets. The first wave consisted of re-imagined sets from Seasons 1 and 2 and released in early 2019. The second wave, released in 2020, consisted of sets from the pilot episodes and Seasons 2–4. So far there have been 5 waves, the third wave consisted of sets from Seasons 1 and 3. The fourth wave focused on sets from seasons 2–5 and the fifth wave consisted of sets from the pilot episodes and seasons 1 and 5. Rather than conform to a specific season, Legacy is based on the Ninjago franchise's early history, with the first wave celebrating the television show's tenth season and 100th episode.

Legacy was introduced in 2019 and currently consists of 37 sets. As of today, 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens is the most valuable Legacy set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $401.
