BrickEconomy Expert Review
“This Ninjago Old Town anniversary set delivers an expansive modular build packed with layered architecture, varied terrain, and standout sections like the main gate, watchtower, rocky caverns, and a towering pagoda, all connected through flexible display configurations. The build is dense with detail, clever angles, and visual callbacks across its four major segments, making it feel cohesive while still offering strong visual variety. An exceptionally large and diverse minifigure lineup reinforces the theme, bringing together key heroes,... More villains, and long-awaited character debuts that tie directly into the location’s long history.”
BrickEconomy
“The Old Town gets top ranks for aesthetics and play features, although I would have loved to see a more faithful rendition of the Ninja outfits, as I pointed out earlier. With all that set, $300 seems like a pretty fair price for such a large and impressive set. I’m sure for many fans of the show, this set will be a must have when it debuts on January 1st to ring in the year of the Ninja.”

“71861 The Old Town is designed for fans, by fans. The model packs in as many Easter eggs as feasibly possible, stunning builds, and long-awaited minifigures in a dense NINJAGO package. It only gets better when you see the price, too.”

About Ninjago Legacy

The Ninjago Legacy subtheme of Ninjago is dedicated to re-imagining concepts used in classic sets. The first wave consisted of re-imagined sets from Seasons 1 and 2 and released in early 2019. The second wave, released in 2020, consisted of sets from the pilot episodes and Seasons 2–4. So far there have been 5 waves, the third wave consisted of sets from Seasons 1 and 3. The fourth wave focused on sets from seasons 2–5 and the fifth wave consisted of sets from the pilot episodes and seasons 1 and 5. Rather than conform to a specific season, Legacy is based on the Ninjago franchise's early history, with the first wave celebrating the television show's tenth season and 100th episode.

Legacy was introduced in 2019 and currently consists of 37 sets. As of today, 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens is the most valuable Legacy set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $400.
