Control Center 8094, released in 1990, was the first Universal set focus on functionality. It was the first set with multiple motors. Not only did it include the new 9V motor system, it had 2 of them. It contains an electronic box called the Control Center which was programmable and capable of powering up to 3 motors on 3 different channels. The Control Center is the heart of this set. It was the first programmable power system for LEGO motors, being the first set with a system for programming the models.

The current value for a new and sealed Control Centre is estimated at $770 with an average yearly gain of about 7%. On the open market, a used set will fetch in the range of between $194 and $251 depending on the condition.

“The Control Center from the Lego Technic series is the first set with the large control unit. This unit is used to control the electric motors, and individual movements can be saved as a program, which can then be played back as often as required. The crane is from my point... More of view the best model of the set, so I have built it and rated accordingly. With only two motors, a lot of functions are achieved. The reason for this is that the raising and lowering of the boom and the jib has been realized by a special technique in which the motor always rotates in only one direction.”

Universal is a subtheme of Technic that consists of 19 sets that as of now ran from 1982 to 1994. As of today, 8094 Control Centre is the most valuable set in Technic Universal with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $769.78.

TECHNIC is one of The LEGO Company's main lines based on creating detailed model machines and mechanical toys with specialized beams, axles, gears and connectors and primarily designed for older children and adults. The theme was first introduced as the Expert Builder series in 1977, but was officially renamed as TECHNIC in 1984. TECHNIC is still an active theme, and is one of the longest running themes in LEGO history. While most TECHNIC sets are vehicles that use pieces to mimic real vehicles, such as engine pieces, suspension, pneumatic, and transmission pieces, the TECHNIC parts have been used by various other System themes as well as LEGO Mindstorms.
