LEGO 8428-1 Concept Car is a Technic Tech Build set released in 1998, containing 471 pieces. The model is a futuristic two-seat car with steerable front wheels, a V-6 engine with moving pistons, and working rear suspension. Steering is operated through an overhead control connected to a set of 12-tooth bevel gears, and the car uses four metallic silver wheels with hard-runner tires. This version was also known as Red Hot Machine and is the same basic model as set 8432-1 Concept Car from 1998, but packaged with a CD-ROM containing early digital instructions and a racing game.

About Technic

TECHNIC is one of The LEGO Company's main lines based on creating detailed model machines and mechanical toys with specialized beams, axles, gears and connectors and primarily designed for older children and adults. The theme was first introduced as the Expert Builder series in 1977, but was officially renamed as TECHNIC in 1984. TECHNIC is still an active theme, and is one of the longest running themes in LEGO history. Red Hot Machine with CD-ROM
A superb red hot machine sporting the new alloy wheels. The V6 engine moves during the driving of the car and the seats are adjustable. By pressing the spoiler down at the back of the car it can be transformed into a more sporty vehicle. There are instructions for an alternative buggy complete with moving V6 engine which can be motorised with set number 8735. Enclosed in the 8428 is a FREE CD ROM which will give the user opportunities to build their models using the CD ROM, see the 98 TECHNIC range, and lots more opportunities.
