“This set stands up very well on it's own merits. Compare it too closely to 8880, however, and it does come up short in a few areas. It's a more ‘commercial' set, if you like, concentrating on surface aspects more than the substance within. It also has more of a ‘built to a... More price' feel than the ‘money no object – let's stuff everything in' 8880. This isn't necessarily a bad thing – 8880's four wheel steering was just wilful – but it seems a slight shame that, for the first time in this series, technical progress had stopped.”

Whereas each previous supercar had built upon the previous, adding more and more accurate functionality, in this case the... More progress went a different direction. Functionally, 8448 lost 4-wheel steering and all-wheel drive as compared to 8880. It gained a couple more gears in the transmission, but the real novelty was the styling.”

About Technic

TECHNIC is one of The LEGO Company's main lines based on creating detailed model machines and mechanical toys with specialized beams, axles, gears and connectors and primarily designed for older children and adults. The theme was first introduced as the Expert Builder series in 1977, but was officially renamed as TECHNIC in 1984.
