LEGO 8533 Gali is a Bionicle Toa Mata set released in 2001, containing 35 pieces. It builds the Toa of Water equipped with twin water-slicing hooks and an arm-raising gear function, and includes a translucent blue Kanohi Kaukau mask. The canister set focuses on a poseable action figure with Technic-based articulation and gearing. A later variation, 8533-2, packaged some copies with a Toa Mata Mini Promo CD-ROM.

“Gali has been released three times in set form. First as a Toa Mata, in 2001, second as a Toa Nuva in 2002. In 2008, she was coupled with Tahu and Onua as the Toa for the Mistika canister sets in summer 2008. As a Toa Mata, she had hooks that helped her slice through water.... More Her arms raised and fell if you twisted the gear on her back. As a Toa Nuva, she had weapons that acted as propellers in the water, and could attach to her feet. As a Mistika she has a Nynrah Ghost-Blaster.”

“The Gali set was released in 2001 as one of the six Toa sets. Gali's arms can be swung up and down by turning a gear in her back. This function can be used to try to knock off the mask of another Toa or Rahi set.”

About Bionicle Toa Mata

The Toa Mata are the main heroes of LEGO BIONICLE and comprised of Tahu, Gali, Lewa, Pohatu, Onua, and Kopaka. They were the first Toa and where originally just known as Toa. When they were submersed in energized protodermis and came out with enhanced powers and abilities, Toa Tahu renamed them the Toa Nuva. Their powers included strong control over their element, personal tools used mainly for directing their elemental power, and a Kanohi Mask granting an additional ability. On Mata Nui the Toa each collected additional Kanohi Masks that allowed them to use the powers that their brother Toa have.

Toa Mata was introduced in 2001 and currently consists of 6 sets. As of today, 8534 Tahu is the most valuable Toa Mata set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $393.
