LEGO Mursten is based on the original Automatic Binding Bricks from 1949. In 1952 the LEGO Group decided that they needed a more descriptive name for their brick sets and added the phrase LEGO Mursten, which translates to 'LEGO bricks' to the existing and new boxes, and in 1953 the sets were renamed simply LEGO Mursten.
1950 LEGO Sets
In 1950, LEGO continued producing its Automatic Binding Bricks, introducing seven new sets, most of which were supplemental part packs. These represented the first spare parts packs ever released by The LEGO Group, except for set 700A, which contained 48 bricks—24 each of the 2x2 and 2x4 sizes. Most of these sets were available only in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden and remained in production until around 1955.
