LEGO Mursten is based on the original Automatic Binding Bricks from 1949. In 1952 the LEGO Group decided that they needed a more descriptive name for their brick sets and added the phrase LEGO Mursten, which translates to 'LEGO bricks' to the existing and new boxes, and in 1953 the sets were renamed simply LEGO Mursten.
1953 LEGO Sets
In 1953, the LEGO Group rebranded its Automatic Binding Bricks as LEGO Mursten, which translates to "LEGO Bricks." This year also marked LEGO’s expansion beyond Denmark, with sets becoming available in Norway and later Sweden. Several key innovations debuted, including the first LEGO baseplates and the introduction of 1x1, 1x2, and 2x3 bricks. Additionally, for the first time, the LEGO name was printed inside each brick, replacing the previously plain plastic design.
