LEGO Town Plan was a theme introduced in 1958 and lasted until 1966 and was under the System i Leg (System of Play) theme. The theme was unveiled at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in February 1955. LEGO Town Plan originally consisted of the existing 700 series LEGO Mursten sets, several new HO 1:87 scale accessories, and a vinyl play mat. However, over the next several years the system was expanded with both new building sets.
1959 LEGO Sets
1959 was a year of international expansion and creative growth. LEGO established companies in France, Belgium, Britain, and Sweden, extending its European reach. The Futura department was also founded in Billund to focus on design innovation and long-term product development, including set concepts, parts, and new technologies. While few new sets were released, Futura’s work would later lead to several of LEGO’s most influential themes.
