Futuron was a LEGO Space subtheme released between 1987 and 1989 whose storyline featuresd a group of civilian space explorers that competed against the astronauts from Blacktron. Futuron was the next generation of Classic Space inheriting its white-and-blue color scheme and the same logo. Futuron sets comprised two large ground-based installations, the Monorail Transport System and various spacecrafts, ground vehicles and rovers.
1988 LEGO Sets
In 1988, Castle introduced the Black Knights era with imposing fortresses and dragon heraldry, while Town delivered large, feature-packed sets such as racetracks and service complexes. Futuron and Blacktron—introduced the prior year—remained central to Space, with sleek exploration craft set against bold, antagonist designs.
