LEGO 1788 Treasure Chest was a 159 piece Pirates set with 4 minifigs released in 1995. It was only released in the United States. The set includes minifgs of King Kahuka, Captain Ironhook and Gonzo Goldbar. It was also branded as Pirate's Chest.

The current value for a new and sealed Treasure Chest is estimated around $845 today with current average yearly gain of about 13% but will level off in the next year closer to a 10% annual growth making it a solid investment. On the open market, a used set will fetch in the range of between $168 and $251 depending on the condition.
Treasure Chest is a relatively rare set as we have not seen set 1788-1 currently for sale in primary or secondary markets in over 6 months. The current value of this set might be slightly higher then what we have estimated. The last brand new Treasure Chest seen was sold on ebay.com.

Also there's an interesting twist, that being all other sets containing Islanders have the pirates... More invading them, but here its the other way round.”

About Pirates

Pirates was a LEGO theme introduced in 1989, running until 1997 and focused on the classic idea of Caribbean pirates that were pitted against soldiers of colonial empires. As the series progressed through the years, more factions were introduced and the older ones were phased out of production.
