“Naturally, the finished model is not highly accurate... because it's about a thousandth smaller in scale and made of LEGO bricks. Replicating real things in microscale presents many challenges and tough choices have to made. It's all a very tough balancing act, and for those... More designing an official set, probably the toughest challenge is that it also needs to follow TLG's (secret) rules around legal connections, stability and ease of construction. Not to mention hitting a price point. So hats off to the Designer, because the finished product is instantly recognisable.”

“The Eiffel Tower has such a classic silhouette, and is the kind of landmark that lends itself so well to recreation in LEGO form. If there’s one less-than-perfect aspect to this model, it’s that the smooth tiles that make up most of the outward facing structure don’t capture... More the latticework that is such an iconic element of the original. LEGO’s earlier Eiffel Tower set (#10181), which was released in 2007, does a better job of this, but that set was 42.5 inches (108 cm) tall and had 3428 pieces. At fewer than one-tenth the number of pieces, #21019 does just fine.”

About Architecture Landmark Series

The LEGO Architecture Landmark Series started in 2008 and consists primarily of models that represent the world's most famous structures. Initially the sets were focused on major cities in the United States such as models of the Sears Tower, John Hancock Center, the Empire State Building, and the Seattle Space Needle followed by international landmarks including Burj Khalifa, Brandenburg Gate, the Sydney Opera House and dozens more. Within the subtheme the scale of the sets differ widely.

Landmark Series was introduced in 2008 and currently consists of 36 sets. As of today, 21021 Marina Bay Sands is the most valuable Landmark Series set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $981.

Designed and built by French entrepreneur, Gustave Eiffel, the original 324-meter-tall masterpiece of wrought iron engineering formed the grand entrance to the 1889 World’s Fair, held in Paris to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution.
