LEGO employees were given this set when the North Sea wind park Borkum Riffgrund 1 was opened. It was also used as the LEGO annual Christmas gift in 2015.
In 2015 LEGO made a large investment in a wind energy park in an area of the sea north of Germany called Borkum Riffgrund 1. This set reproduces one of the wind turbines, as well as one of the boats/platforms used to assemble the wind turbines.
Borkum Riffgrund 1 is an offshore wind farm located in the North Sea, approximately 37 km off the coast of Germany, consisting of 78 wind turbines with a total capacity of 312 MW, and it began operation in 2015 to support Germany's renewable energy goals.
Borkum Riffgrund 1 was designed by LEGO designer Robert Heim.
