Insights

Released and retired in 2016 as a Promotional tie-in to the Rio Olympics, Rio 2016 Mascots draws steady interest from both Olympic and LEGO memorabilia collectors and benefits from event-specific licensing that reduces remake risk, while its regional promotional run keeps sealed examples relatively scarce.

BrickFanatics

“As Olympic mascots go (and there have been some strange ones over the years), these two are fun models that will look good on a desk or shelf. It’s difficult to recommend them at the price, but if the collector in you has an Olympic itch that’s got to be scratched, then... More should you be able to track a set down, you’re likely to be very pleased with Vinicius and Tom.”

BrickEconomy Member Review

“The LEGO set based on the Rio 2016 Olympic mascots, Vinicius and Tom, captures their unique designs with vibrant colors and creative use of Mixels ball joints. While the build is charming, some may wish for more colorful options in the ball joints used. Exclusively available at official Rio 2016 shops and select Brazilian airports, this set is a special tribute to the Olympic Games.”
