Lego Maniacs' Guide
“Good pieces and a good variety of pieces, complemented by a really great design, makes Space Cruiser a 5-star set, through and through. Its design is the stuff of legends, with the classic flat gray wing plain, blue cockpit above it, and yellow windshields and viewports.... More Like the other two sets in its class, 497/928-Galaxy Explorer and 918-Space Transport (Europe only), Space Cruiser is propelled by 2x2 to 2x4 tapering circular gray thruster bricks. The set also includes a small forklift for lifting a cargo box (which is also included). In Space Cruisers' case, these propulsion devices are mounted on its cargo bay doors.”

“This might be one of the smaller sets to include a landing plate. I wish more sets included baseplates. I appreciate that the first three enclosed space ships each contained a pair of bricks printed with the model number (LL924) – that’s another thing LEGO doesn’t do any... More more.”

About Space Classic

Classic Space began in 1978, the same year as the LEGO minifigure, and it was one of the first three themes to use it, along with Castle and Town. The astronauts came in red and white at first, with yellow, black and blue added in the 1980s, all in the same suit with the planet logo on the chest and an air tank on the back. Unlike almost every space line after it, Classic Space had no villains, only explorers with rovers, rockets, lunar bases and grey crater baseplates.

Classic consists of 90 sets that ran from 1978 to 2015. As of today, 926 Command Center is the most valuable Classic set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $4,799.
