LEGO 6085 Black Monarch's Castle is a Castle Black Knights set released in 1988, containing 702 pieces and 12 minifigures. It builds a hinged fortress with a working drawbridge and portcullis, a prison cell with a latticed door, and wall sections that fold open. The set includes four horses and minifigures divided into four mounted knights, four archers, and four guards. In the United Kingdom it was marketed as The Black Fortress. It was the first major fortification for the Black Knights faction, preceding 6086 Black Knight’s Castle in 1992.

About Castle Black Knights

The Black Knights were a faction of the Castle theme introduced in 1998. A total of 13 sets were released containing 3 major castles. Most of the castles and fortification where colored black and their symbol was a wyvern dragon. While The Black Knights subtheme was discontinued after 1994 the crest was still used in later sets.

Black Knights consists of 14 sets that ran from 1988 to 1998. As of today, 6086 Black Knight's Castle is the most valuable Black Knights set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $2,992.
