“The Poison Mushroom first appeared in the Lost Levels version of Super Mario Bros. and have had their appearance tweaked a little over the years. They look similar to other Power-up Shrooms from the Mario franchise, with a different colour palette and a slightly angry... More expression. They have the opposite effect of normal shrooms, causing Mario to lost power-ups or coins. The LEGO version uses the same mushroom cap element as other LEGO shrooms and it’s the only one of the Character Packs to effect LEGO Mario. Causing him to get very dizzy.”

“In terms of influence on the game, this is the most interesting character in the pack. Poison Mushrooms have the opposite effect to Super Mushrooms. When scanned, rather than acting as a power-up, it causes Mario to go into a daze, indicated by a purple mushroom appearing on... More his screen. He has to be shaken out of it in order to proceed, at which point one coin is gained. So, best avoided, then!”

About Super Mario Character Pack Series 2

This is the second series of Character Packs (71386). A random figure is included in each pack. Figures include Huckit Crab, Spiny Cheep Cheep, Ninji, Foo, Parachute Goomba, Para-Beetle, Poison Mushroom, Thwimp, Fly Guy and Bone Goomba. These characters are designed to be used with a Starter Course set, which is required for interactive play.

Character Pack Series 2 was introduced in 2021 and currently consists of 13 sets. As of today, Character Pack Series 2 Sealed Box is the most valuable Character Pack Series 2 set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $105.
