LEGO 8683-3 Caveman is a Collectible Minifigures character released in 2010 as part of Series 1. The minifigure portrays a prehistoric figure with a printed fur-pattern torso and legs, a wooden club accessory, and a newly introduced shaggy hairpiece with integrated beard printing. Composed of six elements, the Caveman reflects early minifigure experimentation with more detailed prints and specialized molded parts. It was distributed in the blind bag format used for the inaugural Collectible Minifigures series, which introduced sixteen unique characters.

About Minifigure Series Series 1

Minifigures Series 1 was LEGO's first release of it's collectable minifigures which nnow numbers in the dozens. The collection, like most in the theme, contains sixteen exclusive minifigures, many of which were based on concepts never seen before their release. Each minifigure was sold individually in foil polybags and came with a selection of accessories, a display stand, and a paper checklist. The opaque foil packaging was intended to make the minifigure a mystery, however, it was quickly noticed that the barcodes on the back could identify the contents.

Series 1 was introduced in 2010 and currently consists of 19 sets. As of today, Series 1 Sealed Box is the most valuable Series 1 set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $1,276.

This would-be inventor from the prehistoric past is always tinkering with sticks, rocks and the occasional bricks he finds lying around, trying to invent something new. Of course, everything he comes up with has already been invented – he’s a Caveman with a tiny little brain, after all – but that doesn’t stop him from trying. He never gets jokes and usually needs things explained to him with gestures and pictures…and even then, he gets it wrong most of the time.

The Caveman is very strong and always hungry. If something looks like it might be food, he’ll try to take a bite, and if it runs away, he’ll lift his club up above his head and chase it down. Not a lot of people know it, but he’s also an excellent artist who can create incredible landscapes and murals using only the simplest of tools!
