The LEGO Toy Fair 2005 V.I.P. Gala Set was available only to guests invited by LEGO to the International Toy Fair in 2005. It featured two exclusive blister-carded minifigures — Darth Vader (with a light-up lightsaber and no black cape, one of only two Vader figures ever produced without one) and Anakin Skywalker — along with the retail set 7251 Darth Vader Transformation, all packaged in a special outer presentation box. This was one of three Star Wars promotions tied to Toy Fair 2005, alongside the Luminara Unduli Promotion and the Anakin Promotion, making it both historically significant and extremely rare among LEGO Star Wars collectibles.
The build included in the VIP Gala set is identical to the retail LEGO Star Wars: Darth Vader Transformation (7251) released later in 2005.
This is the one of only two sets to date where Darth Vader does not come with a black cape.
