This set was one of three Toy Fair 2005 LEGO Star Wars promotions, the others being Toy Fair 2005 Luminara Unduli Promotion and the the Toy Fair 2005 Anakin Promotion.
This is the one of only two sets to date where Darth Vader does not come with a black cape.
The LEGO Toy Fair 2005 V.I.P. Gala was a special event held during the American International Toy Fair in New York City. This exclusive gala was organized by The LEGO Group to celebrate and showcase their upcoming products and innovations to select VIP guests, including key industry figures, media representatives, and partners. The event featured presentations, product displays, and networking opportunities, providing attendees with an early look at LEGO's latest offerings and developments for the year.

The theme currently covers all main films, the anthology films, animated movie and TV series as well as the extended universe.
