In 2017 LEGO released 23 Ninjago sets across 3 subthemes. The largest Ninjago set from 2017 was 70627 Dragon's Forge with a piece count of 1137 and a retail price of $79.99. The current estimated value of all these Ninjago sets from this year is about $1,391.07 which represents a 465.4% growth.

LEGO Ninjago, also known as Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu, theme was introduced in 2011 and included sets that are based off of original storylines, a TV series and The LEGO Ninjago Movie, a movie based on the theme. The main premise of the Ninjago universe is based around six teenage Ninja, Kai, Jay, Cole, Zane, Nya, and Lloyd, who have been trained by their master Sensei Wu, fighting forces of evil to protect the land of Ninjago. The ninjas use a LEGO inspired fighting style known as Spinjitzu where the fighters spin around and draw on their elemental strengths to become tornadoes of energy and each of the main protagonist characters is aligned to a particular element.

2017 LEGO Sets

2017 was a big year for the LEGO movies with the release of The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie. With these films LEGO gave us a number of new sets and themes around these movies, with many of them already being significant investments for collectors. We also saw a number of new themes released that year including BrickHeadz, DC Super Hero Girls, Boost and of course sets for The LEGO Batman and The LEGO Ninjago movies. However, sadly as it is LEGo did retire the much beloved BIONICLE and Mixels themes as well as the short-lived The Angry Birds Movie theme.
