LEGO 1235-2 Garage Plate and Door is a System i Leg Supplemental set released in 1955, containing 3 pieces. This early garage accessory set was sold only in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden from 1955 to 1957, and included a garage door assembly, a garage door frame, and a white 8 x 18 garage floor plate. The set is the same basic model as set 235-1 Garage Plate and Door, which was later sold in Central Europe under the 235 number. As a mid-1950s System-era release, it was designed for compatibility with early slotted LEGO bricks, using a door frame style without studs. Based on current trends, this set could be valued near $113 within the next year.

Garage Plate and Door is an incredibly rare set. Set 1235-2 has not been available for sale online or in retail stores in new/good condition for over one year. Boxes in well-preserved condition are considered museum-grade collectibles, representing the very origins of LEGO. Its true market value is likely higher than the current estimate. Set Facts

The set is the same as 235-1 Garage Plate and Door (White Base and Door Frame).
The 5 piece garage kit. This kit came with a baseplate, garage door (with 2 separate counterweights), and a garage frame. All 5 pieces were available in red or white. After 1956 the garage baseplates were no longer produced in red. From 1955-56, the garage sets were compatible with the slotted Lego bricks, and therefore had no studs on the door frame.
These garage kits were sold as #1235 in Denmark, Norway and Sweden from 1955-57. Starting in 1956, the garage kits were sold in central Europe with the #235 number.
The early version with garage baseplates in red are considered very rare today.

About System i Leg Supplemental

Starting in the 1950s LEGO began individual parts sales, a practice that began with the Ferguson Tracktor in 1951. LEGO would supply dealers with wooden parts boxes and refill packs. These individual part sales would continue, at least in some markets, into the late 1950’s.

Supplemental consists of 68 sets that ran from 1955 to 1959. As of today, 214-4 Windows and Doors Retailer Pack is the most valuable Supplemental set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $805.
