A lovely set that needs to stay in the 1970s. — “This is a lovely set to include in any vintage layout and really does look great alongside the rest of the 1970s range - but with limited application outside of that era and, lacking the enduring appeal of later stations in the 12v range, it will primarily be of interest to... “The Lego 148 Station is the first building piece that includes minifigures. The set includes 293 pieces, including the 5 minifigures and baseplate, and 6 pieces of track. I’m not really sure if it is a 4.5 or 12 volt line, because with the 12 volt line, they still use those... More blue tracks, but you can put the metallic track in the middle. So I consider it both.”

About Trains 4.5V / 12V

In 1972 LEGO released the 4.5V and 12V train sets as part of the Blue Era which was named because of the rail color. These train sets used additional conductor rails mounted between the standard 4.5V rails and 12V motors contained in the same housings as the 4.5V motors, but with additional metal contacts attached to the bottom of the housings.

4.5V / 12V consists of 83 sets that ran from 1972 to 1986. As of today, 7750 Steam Engine with Tender is the most valuable 4.5V / 12V set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $6,957.
