Brickset
Perhaps the best Station Design in Lego History — “The station is made of yellow bricks and is pretty impressive in its design. It could be divided into several areas: the main tower, the ticket office, the restaurant, the waiting hall and the main platform. The very fact, that it was re-released in 1996 as 2150, shows that... More the design was appreciated through years by fans and Lego company a lot.”

“The Lego 4554 Metro Station is a large yellow train station to hold passengers, as they wait for their train to arrive. Well, while they’re there, might as well get a cup of coffee, and a donut to match. This place has all the accommodations as a real life Metro Station.... More This would make a great addition to any Lego train track.”

About Trains 9V

The 9 V system ran from 1991 to 2006 and is still a favourite with LEGO train fans. The rails have metal tops that carry the current from a speed regulator to a motor under the locomotive, so trains could run without batteries for as long as they stayed on the track. It started with 4558 Metroliner in 1991.

9V consists of 67 sets that ran from 1991 to 2006. As of today, 4558 Metroliner is the most valuable 9V set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $1,989.
Summary
Trains 9V Metro Station set 4554 was released in September 1991, retailing for $72, but has since been retired. New, unopened Metro Station sets are valued at $524, while used sets can be found for $179.
