“Included are nine minifigures. A tall lamp is placed over a ramp, where a car can drive up and down the station. There is a patrol tower, a ticket booth, a departures board, and a food stand.”

More minifigs, great playability — “Train sets from 1983 are remarkable: some had a very short selling period until the end of 1984 (e.g. 7727, 7815 and 7819). Others had an extremely long selling period until the end of 1990. This railway station belongs to the second category. Like its predecessor, it is... More also huge, but the style is different. It is built on standard baseplates, and there is no stairs crossover. There are quite some new parts, compared to 1980. The buggy is the same as in set 7727, just built in another color. And there are nine minifigs, what is a big improvement compared to 7822.”

“The Lego 7824 Railway Station is much similar to the Lego 7822, with the same name. the only difference, is that this version has more pieces, and more things going on than in the 7822. This set includes 478 pieces, and of those 478 pieces, the set includes 9 different... More minifigures, and vehicles. The other set had to much stuff that has no real purpose, other then for decoration.”

“In 1983, LEGO introduced a second wave of sets for the train system, replacing some sets from the first wave. As part of this second wave, LEGO replaced railway station 7822 with this new 7824. Like its predecessor, this railway station is huge. But overall it has a... More different style.”

About Trains 4.5V / 12V

4512V covers the LEGO trains of the 4.5 V and 12 V systems from the 1970s and 1980s. The 4.5 V trains ran on batteries carried in a wagon or tender, while the 12 V trains drew power from conductor rails laid between the running rails, fed by a transformer with a speed control. Until 1980 the track was blue, which gave these years the name of the Blue Era.

4.5V / 12V consists of 83 sets that ran from 1972 to 1986. As of today, 7750 Steam Engine with Tender is the most valuable 4.5V / 12V set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $6,368.
Summary
Trains 4.5V / 12V Railway Station set 7824 was released in October 1983, retailing for $45, but has since been retired. New, unopened Railway Station sets are valued at $228, while used sets can be found for $124 in good condition.
