More minifigs, great playability — “Train sets from 1983 are remarkable: some had a very short selling period until the end of 1984 (e.g. 7727, 7815 and 7819). Others had an extremely long selling period until the end of 1990. This railway station belongs to the second category. Like its predecessor, it is... More also huge, but the style is different. It is built on standard baseplates, and there is no stairs crossover. There are quite some new parts, compared to 1980. The buggy is the same as in set 7727, just built in another color. And there are nine minifigs, what is a big improvement compared to 7822.”

“The Lego 7824 Railway Station is much similar to the Lego 7822, with the same name. the only difference, is that this version has more pieces, and more things going on than in the 7822. This set includes 478 pieces, and of those 478 pieces, the set includes 9 different... More minifigures, and vehicles. The other set had to much stuff that has no real purpose, other then for decoration.”

About Trains 4.5V / 12V

In 1972 LEGO released the 4.5V and 12V train sets as part of the Blue Era which was named because of the rail color. These train sets used additional conductor rails mounted between the standard 4.5V rails and 12V motors contained in the same housings as the 4.5V motors, but with additional metal contacts attached to the bottom of the housings.

4.5V / 12V consists of 83 sets that ran from 1972 to 1986. As of today, 7750 Steam Engine with Tender is the most valuable 4.5V / 12V set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $6,053.
