First freight station with minifigs — “This set can be considered as a transition to the then new minifig era, and as a result, its design is similar to the previous figures. The special pieces you get are the expensive antenna and the yellow winch, the blue railroad tracks, white big doors, and maybe the white... More windows. The rest is just standard pieces, almost a a Basic set, but built with ingenuity.”

“The “Freight Depot” includes 268 pieces, with 2 minifigures and 8 pieces of track. With this set you can attach the tracks into the depot, so the trains could go through it. It is also 4.5/12 volt compatible, so any of those likes would work.”

About Trains 4.5V / 12V

In 1972 LEGO released the 4.5V and 12V train sets as part of the Blue Era which was named because of the rail color. These train sets used additional conductor rails mounted between the standard 4.5V rails and 12V motors contained in the same housings as the 4.5V motors, but with additional metal contacts attached to the bottom of the housings.

4.5V / 12V consists of 83 sets that ran from 1972 to 1986. As of today, 7750 Steam Engine with Tender is the most valuable 4.5V / 12V set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $6,957.
