“The Lego 7853 Grey Crossing, is a re-release of its 155: Cross Rails, Straight Track and Base Plates, but in a gray color. The set comes with only one cross rail, and track connectors.”
Full review at bricktrains-sets.com
“This set contains a single rail crossing for push-along and 4.5V trains and comes with 4 sleeper plates. A similar crossing for 12V trains is available as set 7857. This set was available from 1980 but was retired early in 1984, the only of the track sets to suffer such... More faith, presumably because most push-along and 4.5V track layouts were upgraded to 12V before being expanded with a rail crossing.”

About Trains 4.5V / 12V

4512V covers the LEGO trains of the 4.5 V and 12 V systems from the 1970s and 1980s. The 4.5 V trains ran on batteries carried in a wagon or tender, while the 12 V trains drew power from conductor rails laid between the running rails, fed by a transformer with a speed control. Until 1980 the track was blue, which gave these years the name of the Blue Era.

4.5V / 12V consists of 83 sets that ran from 1972 to 1986. As of today, 7750 Steam Engine with Tender is the most valuable 4.5V / 12V set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $6,368.
