Insights

Released long ago and now retired, Train and Station Set (2701) is an early Duplo Trains entry with sealed copies comparatively scarce, and its vintage status has driven historical sealed appreciation, while a smaller Duplo collector base and periodic Duplo Trains refreshes limit liquidity and upside.

BrickTrains-Sets

“The set is not run on electricity, like the 4.5, or 12 volt sets, but solely runs by pushing it around. The set includes 46 pieces, and of those 46 pieces, are 10 pieces of track, a train station, two minifigures, and four train wagons. For the wagons, there are the main... More train engine, a passenger wagon, and two cargo wagons. This would make a good addition to any Lego train set. The train wagons are the main train wagon, what appears to be a passenger wagon, and two cargo wagons.”

About Duplo Trains

DUPLO trains have been part of the range since 1983, when push-along trains and DUPLO track first appeared. Electric trains followed in 1993, with a motor in the locomotive, and since then the line has come back every few years with a new design, a starter set and add-ons such as a station, a bridge, a tunnel and a level crossing. 10874 Steam Train from 2018 brought in coloured action bricks laid on the track, which make the engine stop, sound its horn, turn on its lights or change direction as it passes over them. The trains have also been a way to learn numbers, as in 10558 Number Train, and the 2025 trains are interactive too.

Trains currently consists of 50 sets that as of now has run from 1983 to 2025. As of today, 2741 Electric Train Starter Set is the most valuable Trains set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $489.
