Insights

Limited to a short promotional window, Scary Pirate Island (40597) from Creator in 2023 drew on classic Pirates nostalgia and has seen steady collector interest after retirement, and its small promotional format and broad distribution cap longer-term upside and raise volatility.

Set Facts

Jays Brick Blog

“For fans of Classic Pirates, it’s a pretty neat GWP, with the minifigure sporting the same torso as the Pirate Captain from the Creator 31109 Pirate Ship. The design looks to borrow influences from 6248 Volcano Island, 6279 Skull Island and 6234 Renegade’s Raft, as well as... More incorporating some spooky Halloween vibes thanks to the Shark Head cave, and bats.”

BrickEconomy Expert Review

“The Halloween GWP Scary Pirate Island 40597 set is a notable nod to the enduring LEGO Pirates theme, encapsulating the essence of swashbuckling adventure with its imaginative design. Its inclusion of a spooky ruined castle and a shark-shaped treasure cave, complete with a treasure chest and thematic details like a skull and vampire bat, enriches the collectibility aspect for AFOLs (Adult Fans of LEGO) seeking a blend of nostalgia and novelty. While its size makes it more of an accessory to larger sets, its unique thematic elements and the... More pirate minifigure with a raft add a distinct charm, potentially enhancing its value as a collector's item and a complementary piece in pirate-themed LEGO collections.”
