“A classic vintage Lego set from the 1987 Space range, this was one of the first space sets to come with battery-operated lights and sounds, and it's a nice-looking craft covered in useful pieces. The Starship has several detachable modules that function as mini starships... More adding furter to the play value. The box includes building ideas for several other interesting models.”

About Space Classic

Classic Space began in 1978, the same year as the LEGO minifigure, and it was one of the first three themes to use it, along with Castle and Town. The astronauts came in red and white at first, with yellow, black and blue added in the 1980s, all in the same suit with the planet logo on the chest and an air tank on the back. Unlike almost every space line after it, Classic Space had no villains, only explorers with rovers, rockets, lunar bases and grey crater baseplates.

Classic consists of 90 sets that ran from 1978 to 2015. As of today, 926 Command Center is the most valuable Classic set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $4,799.
Summary
Space Classic XT Starship set 6780 was released in October 1985, retailing for $30, but has since been retired. New, unopened XT Starship sets are valued at $859, while used sets can be found for $104.
