LEGO 8948 Gavla is a Bionicle Matoran set released in 2008, containing 14 pieces. The build depicts Gavla, an Av-Matoran with red eyes, wings, and twin blades measuring about 9 cm, standing roughly 13 cm tall. The set can combine with 8692 Vamprah to portray Gavla riding on Vamprah’s back, as shown in the storyline. In BIONICLE lore, Gavla was the first Av-Matoran corrupted by the Makuta and was later cured by Takanuva.

“In the end, it really boils down to whether or not you would like to lose six dollars and gain fourteen pieces. Sure, there's a cool new mask. But the rest of the set is, realistically, very boring. Save your money, and instead of buying two Matoran, buy a canister set.... More You'll get three times as many pieces, at least.”

About Bionicle Matoran

The Matoran are BIONICLE citizens and are smaller than Toa warriors. There are several types of Matoran including Ko-Matoran, Ga-Matoran, Ta-Matoran, Le-Matoran, Onu-Matoran, Po-Matoran, and Av-Matoran. Various Matoran characters were made into more significant characters some even becoming Toa. If a Matoran from each Metru or Koro wish to combine their bodies they can form a being called a Matoran Nui.

Matoran consists of 35 sets that ran from 2001 to 2008. As of today, 8546 Bionicle Power Pack is the most valuable Matoran set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $177.
