Insights

Released and retired in 2013 as a San Diego Comic-Con promotional, San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Black Suit Superman is an ultra-limited giveaway with exclusive packaging and a unique black-suit minifigure, and its extreme scarcity supports collector competition while thin trading volume raises volatility and condition sensitivity.

Set Facts

The Black Suit Superman minifigure was released as a promotional giveaway at San Diego Comic-Con on July 20, 2013, with only 200 copies made.
The minifigure features a black and silver color scheme with flesh-colored hands and silver detailing on the torso and legs, resembling Superman in his "Man of Steel" black suit.
The minifigure includes two facial expressions—one with glowing red eyes and one with a serious expression—and uses the same hairpiece with a signature curl in the front as other Superman minifigures.

“The Black Suit Superman LEGO minifigure, an ultra-rare 2013 San Diego Comic-Con exclusive with only 200 ever produced, is a true collector's gem. Featuring striking black and silver detailing and dual facial expressions, it’s a standout despite sharing design elements with other Superman minifigs.”

About DC Comics Super Heroes Comic-Con

These are the DC exclusives LEGO gave out at comic conventions, most of them at San Diego Comic-Con and New York Comic Con. They started in 2011 with Green Lantern, Batman and Superman, and after that LEGO mostly chose characters that had not been made as minifigures yet, such as Shazam, Bizarro, Green Arrow, Arsenal, the Atom, Vixen and Black Lightning. 2014 brought the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh, a strange version of Batman from the comics.

Comic-Con consists of 16 sets that ran from 2011 to 2019. As of today, San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Green Arrow Minifigure is the most valuable Comic-Con set with an estimated new/sealed value of $6,448.
