Insights

Released as a US-only Velveeta mail-in promotion during the Samsonite era, Velveeta Promotional Set No 1 is a vintage, plain-mailer promotional that draws interest for its cross-brand novelty and limited distribution, and sealed examples are scarce while thin trading and condition sensitivity add volatility.

Set Facts

The set includes interlocking bricks, gears, wheels, tires, doors, windows, beams and turntables.
It is a co-branded set with Kraft Velveeta.

About Samsonite Basic Set

These are the basic brick sets sold in North America by Samsonite, the luggage maker, which held the LEGO licence there from 1961. Samsonite made the ordinary bricks itself, first at its factory in Stratford, Ontario, while the special parts came over from Billund, and in 1965 it opened a plant in Loveland, Colorado, used only for LEGO.

Basic Set consists of 82 sets that ran from 1961 to 1975. As of today, 080-2 Ambassador Set is the most valuable Basic Set set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $3,550.

Introduce your child to the wonderful world of Lego — A fascinating new toy that knows no age limit. An intriguing collection of interlocking bricks, gears, wheels, tires, doors, windows, beams and turntables. In the hands of a child it makes a doll, a giraffe, a tractor, a mechanical man hundreds and hundreds of wonderful things that kindle the young imagination.
