LEGO 102-1 4.5V Motor Set is a Trains/4.5V set released in 1968, containing 24 pieces. It is a motorization accessory set for early LEGO trains and includes a blue 4.5V battery box, a blue 4.5V Type A motor, and a 12V/4.5V electric wire with two leads. The set also comes with a light gray 6x16 modified plate with a motor cutout, four red train wheels with 2x2 stud centers and cam axles, four light gray train rims, four black smooth solid tires, and four blue banana plug connectors. These parts were intended for use with the first generation of LEGO 4.5V train systems that used 1-prong electrical connections.

About Trains 4.5V

These are the first LEGO trains, sold from 1966 to 1971 and run on 4.5 volts. The power came from a battery box holding three 1.5 volt batteries, carried in a tender or wagon behind the engine, and the motor of 1966 was the first LEGO motor of any kind. The track was blue rails clipped onto sleepers, which is where the name Blue Era comes from.

4.5V consists of 39 sets that ran from 1966 to 1971. As of today, 113-2 Motorized Train Set is the most valuable 4.5V set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $3,836.
