Set Value (New/Sealed)

This represents the current new/sealed value of the set 1:87 Twenty Four Models since January 1957. Medium accuracy

LEGO 1260-2 1:87 Twenty Four Models is a System i Leg HO 1:87 Vehicles set released in 1957. It contains 24 Volkswagen Beetle models produced in the shorter early LEGO HO body style, molded in a range of solid colors that varied between assortments. These vehicles were part of LEGO’s first detailed non brick-based product line, manufactured through external contractors using molded plastic bodies paired with LEGO branded bases. The set was distributed only in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden and served primarily as retailer stock, with the box functioning as a display tray from which individual cars could be sold. Based on current trends, this set could be valued near $10,931 within the next year.

1:87 Twenty Four Models (1260-2) is an exceptionally old and rare LEGO set. It has not been available online or in retail stores in good/new condition for over 2 years. Due to its rarity, the estimated value in sealed condition of $10,043.21 may understate its true worth, assuming one can even be found for sale. Since this set was released in 1957, finding it sealed and well-preserved is exceptionally difficult—making complete sets with intact boxes museum-grade collectibles.

There are currently no new/sealed listings available for 1:87 Twenty Four Models at this time.

Insights

Released regionally in the Nordic market and now retired, 1:87 Twenty Four Models, a System i Leg HO 187 Vehicles set of boxed VW Beetles, draws steady interest from vintage LEGO and Volkswagen collectors for its limited supply and color variants, and rarity of intact, closed-box examples raises condition-driven volatility.

Set Facts

The assortment includes 24 HO scale Volkswagen Beetles with color mixes that were not standardized across production.
The vehicles are part of LEGO’s early HO model program, which ran from 1955 to 1969 and featured detailed diecast-style vehicles made to complement LEGO’s Town Plan system.
The cardboard tray packaging was designed for countertop presentation, allowing shops to sell each model separately rather than as a sealed consumer set.
The shorter early Beetle mold used in this set predates the later elongated version introduced in the early 1960s.
The set was released only in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.
