“Overall - one of my favorite sets. Cool minifig and nice features of the vehicle. With some modifications, you can easily build a ship, that looks way cooler than most of the ships today and also it's simple to turn this single seater into a double-seater.”

“The front cockpit module and the rear tail module both detach from the main unit and combine to form a ship. The wings on the tail part are swing wings and lock close to the cockpit for fast flying. This was an inventive set that let to a lot of possibilities for play, and a... More cool color scheme.”

“A space hot rod / dragster! Kudos to whoever dreamed up this one. A canopy extender (also new this year) in transparent yellow is used to elongate the cockpit’s canopy and give it that dragster feel. (Another canopy extender in transparent blue is used on the train in... More Monorail Transport System.) I like the big wheels and the heavily armed tail section.”

About Space Blacktron

Blacktron was one of the first LEGO Space subthemes along side Futuron and released in 1987. Blacktron was the first truly themed series in Space accompanied with a storyline. It featured a large spacecraft, the Renegade, which set the tone for all future big ships by splitting into a number of smaller modules. The set designs were based around a black and yellow color scheme with transparent yellow windscreens and transparent red highlights.

Blacktron consists of 6 sets that ran from 1987 to 1990. As of today, 6987 Message Intercept Base is the most valuable Blacktron set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $2,320.
