“The black locomotive had a great design and I always preferred the classic steam engine look than the boxy diesels. The container car was simple enough, and could also carry other cargo with construction of a pallet for the forklift to use, those m-tron crates for example.”

“There is the main train engine that makes the set run, a battery box wagon that powers the main train engine, a flat storage wagon that hold oil drums, and a closed storage wagon for you packages. Besides the train wagons, the set also came with miniature vehicles, such as... More miniature forklift. The fork lift has the same function of a real forklift, meaning that it can move packages up and down with ease, and if you need extra space, put it in the back! There is a small wagon that hooks onto the forklift so you won’t have to hold it all at one time.”

About Trains 4.5V / 12V

In 1972 LEGO released the 4.5V and 12V train sets as part of the Blue Era which was named because of the rail color. These train sets used additional conductor rails mounted between the standard 4.5V rails and 12V motors contained in the same housings as the 4.5V motors, but with additional metal contacts attached to the bottom of the housings.

4.5V / 12V consists of 83 sets that ran from 1972 to 1986. As of today, 7750 Steam Engine with Tender is the most valuable 4.5V / 12V set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $6,301.

The LEGO® Train is a real playtain. You actually build it yourself, any way you like it. The simplest way to power the trains is just by pushing. But any train can be supplemented with a motor either powered by 4.5 volt batteries or a 12 volt transformer via electric rails. Whatever power-system you choose you can lift the roof off the waggons to make new seating arrangements for the passengers or move the freight etc.
