“This marked the first foray in collectible models. Not only were buyers encouraged to "collect them all" in the catalogs, but some parts were random. Each set came with two of the printed throwable discs, but many more variations existed.”

BrickEconomy Member Review
“The 1999 LEGO set 8500 Torch offers a nostalgic and intriguing experience as one of the earliest constraction figures. Its red and black color scheme is striking and evokes a fiery aesthetic, while the gear and throwing arm functions add a unique play element, even if they feel a bit stiff and bulky at times. Although the set might not be as refined as later Bionicle figures, it still carries a certain charm.”
