“When we first see an image of this gorilla, we thought it could be a King Kong. Instead, this is a man wearing a gorilla costume doing his performance to entertain others. This is definitely a very unique minifigure and something very innovative. I could never possibly think... More that such minifigure design was able to be made possible with the detailed sculptures of the gorilla feature.”

“In some of the best design work I’ve seen on a LEGO figure in years, the Gorilla Suit Guy is fantastic. His arms and legs are plain black with gray hands. His chest shows off some gray fur. But the mask is incredible, because it lines up with the minifigure’s eyes! But the... More real fun comes from the fact that on the figure’s back, a zipper is painted on.”

About Minifigure Series Series 3

The Minifigures Series 3 (8803) is the third series of collectable minifigures, released in January 2011 and contained 16 minifigures. The barcodes that allowed buyers to identify the contents of polybags in previous series' were removed, replaced with a system of bump codes to identify the packaging. Each minifigure has its own unique code, which helps collectors figure out what minifigure is in each bag. However, subsequent production batches turned out to feature different bump codes, rendering them unreliable.

Series 3 was introduced in 2011 and currently consists of 19 sets. As of today, Series 3 Sealed Box is the most valuable Series 3 set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $800.
Summary
Minifigure Series Series 3 Gorilla Suit Guy set 8803 was released on January 14, 2011, retailing for $3, it has since been retired. New, unopened sets are valued at $14, while used sets sell around $9.

The Gorilla Suit Guy is a mystery. Who is he? Why is he wearing that suit? Does he think he’s an actual gorilla, or did he get lost on his way to a costume party? He certainly acts like the real thing, or at least like someone who’s watched a lot of old movies and TV shows and thinks that’s how a gorilla should act. And he sure is wild about bananas.

The Gorilla Suit Guy could turn up anywhere. In the park, at the beach, hanging out in a store window or jumping up and down on a trampoline, he tends to pop up in the most surprising and unlikely of places. And while he may not be a real gorilla, somehow no one ever wants to be the one to tell him that!
