LEGO 910028 Pursuit of Flight is a BrickLink Designer Program set released in 2021, containing 540 pieces. Designed by JK Brickworks (Jason Allemann and Kristal), it depicts a kinetic sculpture celebrating early aviation with several aircraft that can be mounted on motion stands. A hand-cranked mechanism moves two planes side to side with coordinated tilting, set against clouds and a microscale countryside to create forced perspective. It was part of Round 1 of the BrickLink Designer Program, manufactured beginning in September 2021, with a production run of 10,000 copies.

“Overall, I like the set and think it’s something out of the ordinary that we haven’t seen before in the Ideas line or elsewhere. The price is a bit steep considering what you’re getting, but it is a “low production” run set so that’s what you get. The program only allowed... More between 5,000 and 10,000 copies of the set to be produced so you’ll only find this one on BrickLink or other secondary sales locations.”

The BrickLink Designer Program is a collab between BrickLink and the LEGO group (which now owns BrickLink). The first round of the program tool place in 2021 and was called the 2021 Designer Program.

Designer Program consists of 15 sets that ran from 2021 to 2022. As of today, 910008 Modular Construction Site is the most valuable Designer Program set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $933.

This small kinetic sculpture is designed to celebrate the history and wonder of flight. It features several different styles of aircraft from the early days of aviation history when engineers and pilots fearlessly pushed the limits of what was possible.

Any two of the aircraft can be mounted on the motion stand and a crank on the side can be turned to move the aircrafts from side to side. The planes tilt as they move, giving the illusion of them flying gracefully through the air.

Forced perspective – with clouds below and a microscale country landscape – is used to heighten the effect of the planes flying high in the sky.

Though these planes are smaller than minifigure scale, I have included minifigure heads for the pilots in some of the planes because I think it adds a bit of character to the model.
