LEGO 080 Ambassador Set is a vintage Samsonite set from 1967 valued at $3,491 for new and sealed sets, up 13871% from an original retail price of $24.99. Annual appreciation has averaged 8.74% since release. On the used market, values range from $2,653 to $3,010 based on condition.
LEGO 080-2 Ambassador Set is a Samsonite Basic Set released in 1967, containing 560 pieces. It was available only in the United States and sold exclusively through FAO Schwarz, which offered it as “The Ambassador Set” in 1969–1970 at its Fifth Avenue flagship and via catalog. The contents are the same as 080 Basic Building Set with Train.
The set features a small brick-built, hand-pushed train built four studs wide to align with the blue track era, along with four buildings on dedicated baseplates and two vehicles. It also includes a miniland-style policeman figure that is out of scale with the buildings and vehicles, reflecting an early train-focused offering from the Samsonite period. Based on current trends, this set could be valued near $3,772 within the next year.
Ambassador Set (080-2) is a very old and rare LEGO set. It has not been available online or in retail stores in good/new condition for over 2 years. Because of its scarcity, the current estimated value of in new condition of $3,491.32 may be much lower than its true market value. Released in 1967, sealed sets in good condition are especially difficult to find, often commanding a premium well above estimates.
There are currently no new/sealed listings available for Ambassador Set at this time.
