236 Garage with Automatic Door was a 69 piece Classic set released in 1956 that featured a white base and door frame and was released as early as 1955 in Europe. The set did not include a vehicle. The door works by simple integral counterweights and is not motorized. The set was typically found with white base and white door frame until 1966 and was similar to set 1236-2.

The sets name taken from a translation of a non-English version of the packaging.
The Lego "automatic garage" sets had a special baseplate incorporating a tilted ramp, that meant that when the door was opened, the car would run down the ramp and onto the "street" outside.
This is the same as set 1236-2 Garage.

About System i Leg Town Plan

LEGO Town Plan was a theme introduced in 1958 and lasted until 1966 and was under the System i Leg (System of Play) theme. The theme was unveiled at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in February 1955. LEGO Town Plan originally consisted of the existing 700 series LEGO Mursten sets, several new HO 1:87 scale accessories, and a vinyl play mat. However, over the next several years the system was expanded with both new building sets.

Town Plan consists of 30 sets that ran from 1955 to 1959. As of today, 1308 Fire Station is the most valuable Town Plan set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $5,171.
