Dag's Bricks
“There are several things wrong with this set. Primarily it's the shortest line ever. At 8 studs it's little more than the two cars that fit on the track. It takes more time to queue up than it does to ride it. At least that's the presumption. Sneaking a peek at the back of... More the box, there's no connections to be made unless the sidewalk spontaneously turns into track. The platform has two signs on it.”

“The Bricktober Train Station is a compact yet impressive mini build with creative details like roller skates used for train wheels and a small red passenger train. Though smaller in size compared to other Bricktober sets, it includes a taxi and a detailed station design that fans can easily expand with additional cars or builds. Available as a promotional set, it's a standout addition for LEGO enthusiasts.”

About Toys R Us

The LEGO Toys R Us theme sets were produced in collaboration with Toys R Us and were usually exclusive to their stores. Over the years, various exclusive sets or promotions were made available only through Toys R Us, often aligning with special events, holidays, or movie releases. These exclusive sets covered a range of LEGO themes and were sought after by collectors and fans due to their limited availability. It's worth noting that while certain sets started as Toys R Us exclusives, some eventually became available through other retailers or directly from LEGO.

Toys R Us consists of 52 sets that ran from 2012 to 2024. As of today, 5004938 NINJAGO Minifigure Collection is the most valuable Toys R Us set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $397.
Summary
Promotional Toys R Us Bricktober Train Station set 40142 was released in October 2015, retailing for $20, but has since been retired. New, unopened Bricktober Train Station sets are valued at $30, while used sets can be found for $17.
