Brickset
The most unique and dynamic Classic Space set — “This is without a doubt the best terrestrial Classic Space set out there and one of the best Classic Space sets period. It is completely unique as it is tall, wide, and lacks wheels. Even more unique is the way in which it moves, the legs swivel and the arm is snake-like in... More the way it bends.”

Lego Maniacs' Guide
“The predecessor to the Alien Moon Stalker, the Walking Astro Grappler is a great example of an early walker of unique design and lots of swiveling plates to make it a set worth looking for. The bullet-shaped control booth (driver can stand or sit) is part of a sturdy base... More mounted on two legs that pivot back and forth for walking action. A probing robot arm with pincer and cargo boxes mounted on the control base allow the Grappler to gather and store samples as it travels.”

“Bizarre walker (technically a shuffler) comes with a single black astronaut. Love the beak-like standup cockpit and articulated grabber arm.”

About Space Classic

Classic Space began in 1978, the same year as the LEGO minifigure, and it was one of the first three themes to use it, along with Castle and Town. The astronauts came in red and white at first, with yellow, black and blue added in the 1980s, all in the same suit with the planet logo on the chest and an air tank on the back. Unlike almost every space line after it, Classic Space had no villains, only explorers with rovers, rockets, lunar bases and grey crater baseplates.

Classic consists of 90 sets that ran from 1978 to 2015. As of today, 926 Command Center is the most valuable Classic set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $4,799.
