“The part selection is useful, the look is futuristic. It was not common to include little robots at that time, those appeared three years later. At that time, this little gem has already disappeared from the regular sale. So the inclusion of one single spaceman is a good... More choice.”

“Unique design. The blue on transparent dark blue with white is a new color scheme. The hinged vehicle roof is also new this year. The blue slope with classic space logo is unique to this set because its logo is smaller than those that appeared on the early enclosed... More spaceships (such as the Galaxy Explorer).”

About Space Classic

Classic Space began in 1978, the same year as the LEGO minifigure, and it was one of the first three themes to use it, along with Castle and Town. The astronauts came in red and white at first, with yellow, black and blue added in the 1980s, all in the same suit with the planet logo on the chest and an air tank on the back. Unlike almost every space line after it, Classic Space had no villains, only explorers with rovers, rockets, lunar bases and grey crater baseplates.

Classic consists of 90 sets that ran from 1978 to 2015. As of today, 926 Command Center is the most valuable Classic set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $4,799.
Summary
Space Classic Cosmic Cruiser set 6890 was released in January 1982, retailing for $11, but has since been retired. New, unopened Cosmic Cruiser sets are valued at $607, while used sets can be found for $40 in good condition.
