LEGO 1982 Sets

With the release of 64 sets for 1982, the LEGO Group was able to produce a number of highly collectable ones even though many did fall short of being strategic long term investments.

Based on the 64 sets released for that year, the retail value was $685.73 with a current value of $20,024.32 for the combined new/factory sealed sets. As of present, the best performing theme for 1982 is currently Homemaker which has seen an average annual growth of upwards of 10% to date. All together 1982 saw the release of sets covering 8 themes and 15 subthemes with Fabuland having the highest release count of 17 sets.

1982 marked the arrival of the LEGO Expert Builder series, later known as LEGO Technic. This line offered a more advanced building experience, incorporating specialized parts such as gears, axles, and pins, allowing for functional mechanical models. Additionally, the classic LEGO Space and Town themes saw the addition of new sets.
