2010

2010 was yet another great year for LEGO collectors and investors. 2010 saw a staggering 389 sets released, not including gear or books, with 50 promotional and not for retail sets.

Based on the 389 sets released for that year, the retail value was $15,118.08 with a current value of $48,096.63 for the combined new/factory sealed sets. As of present, the best performing theme for 2010 is currently Pirates which has seen an average annual growth of upwards of 14% to date. With the 39 sets that year, the Duplo theme had the most released sets.

2010 sets the stage for a massive investment opportunity for future collectors with the release of the Series 1 of the Collectable Minifigures. In addition, LEGO introduced the Cars theme and LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 was also released. However, a number of themes and subthemes were retired including Agents, Bob The Builder, Indiana Jones and Thomas and Friends. For the Star Wars collectors, LEGO celebrated the 30th Anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back with a number of special sets. Additionally, LEGO and Disney released a bunch of different Disney subthemes.
