Insights

Released in 2001 as a promotional Bionicle Matoran, Maku draws nostalgia for an early-era character and uncommon color parts with a distinctive disc-launch mechanism, and sealed examples with original promo packaging are scarce, while its small-scale promo nature keeps secondary-market behavior uneven.

Set Facts

The set was included in McDonald's Happy Meals in September 2001 as one of the six "Tohunga" sets. Each Happy Meal came with one of the six sets, randomly selected.
Set Composition: 1390 Maku includes eight parts: six blue and medium blue pieces, one light grey piece, and a mask, along with a bamboo disk.
Disk Feature: The set features a bamboo disk that can be flung by placing it in Maku's hand, pulling back, and releasing it.
Mask Details: Maku wears a powerless Kanohi Huna, the Mask of Concealment, which differs from the mask of her respective Toa.
It was a promotion with McDonald's.
