Insights

Released in 2007 and retired in 2008, the 9V Train Track Starter Collection is a discontinued 9 V accessory bundle with legacy metal magnets and a complete oval that keeps it useful to layout builders, and sealed copies are relatively scarce while utility and third-party substitutes limit broad upside.

BrickTrains-Sets

“This set includes 24 pieces, and of those 24 pieces, there is two straight tracks, sixteen curved tracks, and six magnets. The only purpose this set had, been to give the buyer, a beginner’s head start into the 9 volt line. It had extra tracks and magnets, to make a single... More circuit, and repair it if it ever got broken.”

Brickset

“Good set to pick up and support 9V trains. Comes with plenty of track to make a good run. You just need a power pack and connector or you can run the new trains on it. It also comes with extra coupling magnets.”

About Trains 9V

The 9 V system ran from 1991 to 2006 and is still a favourite with LEGO train fans. The rails have metal tops that carry the current from a speed regulator to a motor under the locomotive, so trains could run without batteries for as long as they stayed on the track. It started with 4558 Metroliner in 1991.

9V consists of 67 sets that ran from 1991 to 2006. As of today, 4558 Metroliner is the most valuable 9V set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $1,989.
